This seminar takes place under the third main component of the project “Criminal and prison law”. Most experts consider that training is the core issue in any process of change affecting well functioning institutions and good governance. The title of this seminar “Criminal judicial cooperation and the Euro-Mediterranean framework” was agreed during the Working Group meetings held on this component. More particularly, this session is focused on the relevant role that criminal judicial cooperation acquires nowadays in the Euro- Mediterranean area and, consequently, the importance of knowing the Euro-Mediterranean framework on this topic. The different subtopics will enable us to carry out an in-depth analysis of several relevant aspects which are directly linked with criminal judicial cooperation from a theoretical and practical point of view. We are going to share the international experts’ opinion and the participants’ approach on these topics from their own perspective, experience and respective competences. Through an in-depth and detailed discussion, we will know the current situation related to the topics under discussion, among others: The Lisbon Treaty, the Stockholm Action Plan and the Euro-Mediterranean area of freedom, security and justice; Signing agreements with third countries in the field of freedom, security and justice, and the Treaty of Lisbon; Legal instruments for criminal cooperation and their general characteristics; On-line instruments and criminal judicial cooperation. Thanks to this seminar, we will get to know the different features prevailing in the region and we will learn from each other through the different experiences and views of the participants. |
