A series of 10 study visits have been organised for participants from the Mediterranean partner countries to administrations of EU Member States or international/regional oganisations operating in the fields covered by the EuroMed Justice II Project.
These visits represent the best methodology to get acquainted with the best experiences and good practices available in the Mediterranean partners and EU countries in the field of justice.
These visits were organised between October 2010 and February 2011.
Each Mediterranean Partner could send up to 3 participants to each study visit, depending on the facilities available in the host justice administration, regional or international organisation. The duration of these study visits was between 3 and 5 working days.
The participants' profile was of three different levels:
- Decision-makers
- Policy-makers and high-ranking officials in charge of applying the policies
- Magistrates, judges, prosecutors and other legal professionals.
The topics selected by the host countries and regional or international organisations were:
1. Work developed by the Hague Conference and other international organisations related to family law (Greek Ministry of Justice and the Hague Conference)
2. Access of citizens to the judicial system information and to legal aid systems (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime -UNODC, Vienna)
3. Organisation and functioning of the European cooperation networks in criminal matters and functioning of Eurojust (Eurojust/Dutch Ministry of Justice and Czech Republic)
4. Victims and access to justice for the most vulnerable groups (Belgian Ministry of Justice)
5. Penitentiary institutions and penitentiary system management (Slovenian Ministry of Justice)
6. Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods -ADR (German Ministry of Justice)
7. Court Management (Bulgarian Ministry of Justice and French Ministry of Justice)
